THE LANGHAM, HONG KONG SUPPORTS EARTH HOUR 2010
Light Painting and more, in support of Earth Hour 2010
(Hong Kong, March 2010) On Saturday, 27 March, 2010, The Langham, Hong Kong will join the city to participate in Earth Hour 2010. Earth Hour is an environmental movement initiated by WWF (World Wildlife Fund) to raise global awareness about climate change. The Langham has pledged to turn off its external lighting, promotional light boxes, and all non-essential lights, from 8:30pm to 9:30pm in support of this brilliant initiative.
While the lights are out, the hotels grand lobby will become a stage for two Light Painters. NB: Light painting, also known as light drawing or light graffiti, is a photographic technique in which images are made in a dark room by moving a hand-held light source or by moving the camera.
The Langham team was so impressed with the light painting images they saw by
Alex Tam from http://www.fotobeginner.com/, that they tracked him down and asked him to hold a one-off Light Painting class, at The Langham, for the hour the lights are out. This will be an interactive class that guests can come along to, with their cameras, and learn a bit more about this incredible style of shooting.
For those not into photography, there will also be a Champagne and cocktail reception in the lobby lounge, Palm Court. Guests can enjoy three cocktails of their choice, provided by Moët Hennessy, served with a selection of canapés, from the sustainable seafood selection in The Bostonian restaurant. Priced at HKD 288 per person.
Main St. Deli, The Bostonian, L’Eclipse and two Michelin starred T’ang Court, will have their usual à la carte menu’s on offer and each restaurant will be candlelit for the entire evening, in further support of Earth Hour.
For reservations and bookings please contact The Bostonian directly on Telephone: +852 2375 1133.
